Yemen delegation praises Qatar for hosting the Arab Cup

Member of the Board of Directors of the Yemeni Football Association, Samir Al-Khalki, praised Qatar for hosting the Arab Cup.

Al-Khalki expressed his happiness and thanks to Qatar for hosting the Arab Cup and the hospitality.

Al-Khalki said, “The event is considered historic. Never before have all Arab countries met in one football tournament. Not to mention, holding the tournament on an international level under the supervision of FIFA gives it great impetus.”

He added, “We hope that the competitions, whether in the qualifiers or the finals, will give a good image about Arab football.”

On facing the Mauritanian national team on Tuesday, he said, “It is undoubtedly a difficult match against a team that has witnessed a very remarkable development in recent years. It has become a strong team. The evidence is the successes it has achieved recently.”

Al-Khalki continued, “Our team came here to win and qualify for the finals. They will be the focus of the world’s attention. Especially now, the tournament has become under the umbrella of FIFA. It is also in Qatar, which will host the World Cup.”

He stressed that the Yemeni national team players will do their best in the match according to the available capabilities.

Also, Al-Khalki stressed that the focus has now begun on the next stage. It is the Arab Cup qualifiers and the qualifiers for the 2023 Asian Cup.
